    It takes less than 10 minutes to make a batch of this seasoning blend for chicken. The flavorful combination of spices and herbs is perfect for baked, roasted, or grilled chicken. Try the next time you need a fast weeknight meal.

    Seasoning blends for chicken are the perfect way to add flavor to a roasted, baked, or grilled chicken. Apply the seasoning blend on boneless and bone-in chicken pieces such as chicken breasts, thighs. It also works great on chicken drumsticks. Turn a plain piece of chicken into a delicious main dish with this blend.

    What's in the seasoning blend?

    Make this seasoning blend with everyday herbs and spices, which you probably already have in your pantry. None of them are exotic or expensive to purchase.

    • Smoked paprika-Adds a nice smokiness to the chicken. You can also use sweet or sharp paprika in place of the smoked paprika.
    • Granulated garlic-Use granulated garlic, not garlic powder.
    • Granulated onion-Use granulated onion, not onion powder.
    • Dried thyme Leaves-Do not use powdered thyme.
    • Kosher salt-If this salt is coarse so if you substitute table salt, cut the amount in half.
    • Coarse ground black Pepper-If you use a fine grind pepper, cut the amount in half.

    • Step 1-Gather the spices.
    • Step 2-Measure each of the spices and herbs and put them in a bowl.
    • Step 3-Combine all the ingredients and mix well.
    • Step 4-Place in an airtight container such as a small glass canning jar.

    How to use the seasoning

    Use the seasoning as either a dry rub or combine it with oil and brush it on a the chicken.

    Pro-Tip

    Before you apply the seasoning to the chicken be sure to dry it off with a paper towel.

    The seasoning is perfect to use on any type of raw chicken such as a whole chicken and chicken breasts, thighs, or drumsticks.

    Apply the seasoning right before you cook it.

    To make it ahead of time, season the chicken and place it in the refrigerator. Remove the chicken from the refrigerator right before cooking it.

    Dry Rub

    To use the seasoning as a dry rub, brush the chicken breasts with 2-3 teaspoons of olive or vegetable oil and sprinkle with 1-2 teaspoons of the chicken seasoning.

    Wet Rub

    Combine 2-3 teaspoons of olive or vegetable oil) with 2-3 teaspoons of seasoining mix and brush it on the chicken.

    When to apply the seasoing blend

    Description

    Take chicken to the next level with this simple seasoning blend.  It is delicious on roasted, baked, or grilled chicken.  Try it the next time you need a fast weeknight meal.


    Ingredients

    Scale
    • 4 tablespoons smoked paprika or any paprika you have in your pantry
    • 3 tablespoons dried thyme leaves
    • 1 ½ tablespoon granulated onion
    • 1 ½ tablespoons granulated garlic
    • 1 tablespoon coarse ground black pepper
    • 1 ½ tablespoons kosher salt or more based on your preference

    Instructions

    1. Measure all the ingredients into a small bowl.
    2. Combine until they are well mixed.
    3. Store in an air-tight container in a cool, dry area of your kitchen. 
    4. Stir before using to loosen the blend.

    • The seasoning blend stays fresh for six months.
