Fast, easy five ingredient vinaigrette. Tastes great too!
Spring is here and in the Northwest, we are starting to see spring lettuce at the farmers market. This easy vinaigrette is the best way to dress fresh greens. Today I am sharing my "go-to" recipe for a vinaigrette. It is easy to make and delicious. Gathering the ingredients and utensils takes more time then it does to prepare it. Once you have made it, you will never purchase a vinaigrette again!
First, let me tell you about the ingredients and utensils.
The only utensils you will need are a container such as a bowl, measuring cup or jar, ½ cup measuring cup, measuring spoons, and a small whisk. If you don't have a whisk, a fork will work just as well.
The ingredients I use are pictured above. (Note- this is not a sponsored post). I like to use extra light tasting olive oil which I purchase at Costco. My favorite vinegar is white Modena vinegar because it has a tinge of sweetness to it. I purchase it at Trader Joes. If you don't have Modena vinegar, substitute white wine or white vinegar but add 1 teaspoon honey or sugar. You can also substitute white balsamic vinegar for Modena vinegar.
Another important ingredient is Dijon mustard. Any brand will work. Of course, you will also need salt and pepper. I use Kosher salt and like to grind my own pepper. Any course ground pepper is fine. If you prefer a finely ground pepper, use half the amount that the recipe calls for.
To make the dressing, I first combine the vinegar and mustard.
Then I add the oil.
Finally, I add salt and pepper and whisk to combine.
It's as easy as that! You will have a smooth luscious vinaigrette for your salad!
The vinaigrette can easily be doubled or tripled, depending on the size of your family. I usually make it once a week and store it in a glass jar or my favorite way is to use a squeeze bottle.
By making your own vinaigrette, you won't have any additives in your dressing. Just a few simple ingredients that you probably have in your pantry right now! So take a few minutes and whip up this vinaigrette for dinner tonight!
